I Think I'll Take Up Juggling

Ugh. It was one of those runs today.

The kind of run where I decided that instead of actually running the 1/2 in Arizona with everyone, I will just go and enjoy the weather, drink beer and provide lots of cowbell for everyone who is actually running.

Just too distracted today, I think. And I probably should have gone outside instead of on the track. It is too easy to get pissed and just walk off the track. At least outside, I would have had to run back to where I started from.

The dog issue has me worked up. I feel guilty, but not guilty enough to continue to make my daughter have to come with me in the bathroom everytime I have to go because I am scared to leave her unattended with the dog. And I am angry. Angry at my mom's friend who knew exactly what the problem with this dog was before she pawned her off on me and my small children.

So, that's my day in a nutshell. I will spare you all from further tirades on the subject :X

Sorry to hear about the dog :-( Just take the dog to a rescue house or a animal shelter that doesn't kill the dogs. I will be better for everyone...

Maybe you could take up joggling! I hear that is a blast :-)

Oh gosh. I so wish it'd work out with you, the kids and the dog. But, I have an almost 3yr old too, and I understand your situation.

David knows you all are going to PF Changs, turns to me a few minutes ago and says "So, when's the PFChang race, everyone seems to be doing it". I think that was a hint... I hope you have a blast!

ixnay on the dog...and don't feel bad...you have kids to worry about. It will be great when that's over!

You are obviously a very caring mother, so naturally the emotions are running very deep right now about what to do, what happened, and how to balance it all. I'm sure that's why the exercise suffered. Some times you gotta drop back and punt on 4th down; you may just have too much on your plate to raise an unruly dog along with two precious children.

GET THE DOG OUT NOW. Your kids will miss the dog, but keeping it around another week or so will only make the kids bond with it that much more. Not to mention the headaches and stress it is causing you. As wes suggested take it to a no kill shelter.
As a dad of a 3year old, I can appreciate your concerns and would be protective also.

If your dog is openly aggressive to your child and your that worried about here, you should definitely remove the dog from your household. That's a stressful situation for all -- dog included.

Lori, you will get another dog that is calmer and better suited right now. You don't trust this one so you can't keep it.

I can't believe I really get to see you in January!! :>)

First, I'll restate what I said on Phoenix's blog about being slow (from the Queen of Slow): You may hate that you're slow, you may want to go faster but can't right now, but the fact that you're moving is better than nothing! A suggestion on building up your mileage (same as I am having to do) try the run/walk method. Don't let people make you think you aren't "running" if you walk. Those are usually people who run faster than you're ever going to anyway or who don't run at all. After an accident, I have had to resort to the run/walk to get back in the groove. What works for me is run 8, walk 2. The walking bit lets you get your breath and really doesn't slow you down as much as you would think over the course of a long run. Yes, it adds minutes overall, but it is almost guaranteed you will finish. Try whatever combination works best for you and try to build on the run part and cut back on the walk. Eventually it will come together.

again, I don't know anything about dogs. But I do know those types of runs. They happen for a reason - so you can feel even better the next time you run.

Hope you have a stress-free weekend, or at least less stressful.

All I have to say is better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your small sweet ones.

And what's this about you and a 1/2 and PF Changs???

I agree with wes. You need to get rid of that dog.
