Ink Me Up, Baby

Today's workout was another killer.  7 different exercises; squats, chest presses, pull-ups, sit-ups, planks, lunges and finally rowing.  Each one a total of 4 minutes - working 20 seconds and resting 10.  Sounds like cake, right?  Yeah, that's what I thought, too.  My arms, especially, are toast.  Tomorrow I may try to get in a run after work, but over lunch I'm shopping kids.  Time to get the kids' Easter goodies all figured out!   Plus, it's just been a really long time since I have been shopping and I'm itching!

So it seems like I may be able to get my tattoo in time for Kruex's death anniversary after all!  I'm really excited for this and think it will help me through the day so much better.  Over the last year and through the big dates that have come and gone, I have found that I am much better with a plan, and especially treating these times as celebrations instead of days of mourning.  So, last night, as I was trying to go to sleep, I decided we are having a party on the 29th.  Not sure how the weather will be, but grilling out would be awesome, but nonetheless, my friends and family are definitely necessary to celebrate the day.

I have also been thinking of getting a couple of tattoos since he passed, but so far haven't had any luck getting ahold of the guy I wanted to do them.  The first I want to get done is just his footprints and name.  Pretty simple, but very important to me.  I have been pretty set that this tattoo would be on the back of my neck since I decided on it, but now tonight as soon as I hung up with my brother (who found a new guy that he wants to go to), I can't decided between the back of my neck, or over my heart.

So, the question of the night...where would you get it?  I like the idea on the back of my neck, but I hate the fact that I won't be able to easily see it.  I also love the idea of having it on my chest (this is not a tattoo that I have any intention of keeping hidden - so it wouldn't be on my boob, but actually more over my heart), but worry about just in case I do end up having another baby, could it/would it stretch?  I would hate to have it change at all.  Let me have it.  I want to hear it all!

The workout seemed far from cake to me?!? You are doing so awesome with those killer workouts.

The tatt, I think the chest changes as we age, but so do our necks. Can't win for losing as we get older..ugh!

Over the heart seems appropriate, but like Viv points out, those boobies will get saggy over time. Best to choose the least saggy area for a tat. Maybe on your own foot? That might be cool -- his footprint and name on your foot? I don't know, is that lame?

You know what I think :-) But I do wonder how it would all work out in the boobage area. All I know is that mine can't possibly get any worse, and if they do . . .gravity is a cruel bitch :P LOL

You are doing great on your workouts!!

I like the idea of over your heart. :-)

I like the idea of being able to see it, whenever you want without having to have a mirror around. I think this is a wonderful idea!

Well, the heart is closer to the middle of the chest than we usually assume. And that area may be less susceptible to some sort of saggage. So, sort of near the sternum, kinda between the pointy things.

But you have to be aware that ink in that area, especially when visible, will likely draw male attention to the area, but not for the reasons you may hope. No matter how well you explain it, guys will be thinking "mmmm, boobies". It's like our minds shut down when we see the things. Ask Mendy what I'm like in the mornings.

I guess I would suggest possibly considering the abdomen area, where Kruex was formed and where you first knew him. And if you can recall which way he layed during pregnancy, that side where is feet were would be perfect for the footprints, I think.

Hey, I'm sure we have given you our numbers, and I hope you use them in the coming days. We're R&R homies, and we care a lot about you. It would be more of a bother if you DIDN'T call us. Seriously. :-)

I think a tattoo is a great idea to remember Kruex by! I can't believe it's been almost a year already. My heart still hurts for you and your family now as much as it did when I first heard the news. :-(

Anyway, if I had to choose between those two areas, I would probably choose over the heart so you could see it. I have a friend who has her kids' footprints and initials on her calf (near her ankle) and it looks pretty cool.

I am planning to get a tat on my back eventually (to represent my kids). The guy I want to do it has a waiting list a mile long, and I have been waiting since October. I might be a wrinkled old lady before I actually get it!

I would get it over my heart. That way you can keep him close forever.

I have no ideas on the tattoo. I'm still thinking about that for myself. But, dang, what a killer workout!

I wouldn't do the chest area--it will change with weight gain or loss.

I have one on my neck (right under my hair line) & its only seen when I want it seen.

I think you should get this on your upper most back----like in the middle, still totally visible, not a big chance of it getting stretched or ruined.

OR since its his tiny feet, how about on the top of your foot.....obviously sometimes hidden, but not always. Awesome spot (painful though) & everyone notices them there.

Bicep (left-closest to your heart) is good, unless you gain A LOT of weight, it wouldn't stretch out -----

I still thing like the neck/back. Try this put on a t-shirt, & look at putting the tattoo right above the collar--almost so it sits on the collar or an un-collared shirt. know what I mean??

With your hair up, you’ll see it all the time. Or if you have short hair its seen all the time.

BUT I have 3 friends who did chest/breast area & after another kid (one was big weight loss-no kid) they look bad—

BUT I obviously love the idea!!!

oh, great work out too! :o)

And I hear you're running a FULL R & R?????

wow!

look at the top of your foot---Jess said it too (I just saw it) I think you might like that. side of leg/ankle, not so , whats the word.....distinct???

and I had a friend with severe edema and she has a daisy on her foot & it looks NO different--which I thoguht was crazy

Great job on the workout. As for the tat, I would say on the boob, I mean over the heart. Although as discussed above there is that terrible thought of time and gravity. Best of luck to you. Wish you the best with your party.

Great workout! I think that wherever you put the tat would be awesome and very special. I like the over the heart the most and even like on your belly. A tattoo like this is going to be so special no matter where it is. I like the celebration idea also and I "Celebrate" many of loved ones lost.

I don't have any strong opinion on the location, but I hope everything is going well since I've been away for a while. I do like the idea of footprints though, that's awesome.

I don't think I can anything to the location discussion. I've just never understood why anyone would go throught the whole process of getting a tatoo only to put in a place they can't even see.

I'm a rebel, though, which is why I don't have a tatoo. Dare to be different!!

Oh, I love this idea. I think I would want to be able to see them all the time. So, if I had to choose, I'd pick chest. I might consider ankle/lower calf or foot though.

I think the plans and celebration idea are awesome. You control what you are thinking and feeling. I'll be thinking of you.

Wondering if you got your tattoo and how you are doing! Thinking of you!

Pokey said...

I think both the tatoo and the party are a WONDERFUL idea! I have no input on location for the tatoo, though, as I'm too much of a wimp to get one myself ;)

You are a strong woman Lori...I know you will get through the anniversary with the strength that would make your son super proud of his mom!

HUGS!

Been thinking about you girl! As for the tatt, I think above the heart would be great. It can be a little higher than the twins.
